First off I would like to say that there is nothing to hate about James Cameron. He is a genius and has been ever since he started getting into films. For those of you not familiar with his work, you really just don’t know his name. He directed such movies as Terminator, Terminator 2, Aliens, True Lies, The Abyss, and of course the massiveness that was Titanic. That’s right; all these amazing films came from one man. Turns out that he could not get funding for this movie, so guess what he did? He paid for it out of his own pockets. No kidding, he literally paid for it with his own money. That means that he will be getting 100% of the profits. I best a few studios out there are killing themselves over it now.
Enough about James Cameron, let’s move on to the story. I don’t wish to ruin a lot about the story, but it is predictable and quite obvious what will happen from the get go. Especially if you saw all the previews and TV spots for the film. Even with the story being predictable it was utterly amazing. I loved the entire way the story just flowed perfectly from start to end. I was never once disappointed even though the plot was see-though. I LOVED it. I will probably end up going to go see it again.
Now I saw this movie in 3D. James Cameron actually created this 3D engine from the ground up and it was supposed to me better than any other 3D out there. He claimed it as being what will make or break 3D. It turns out he was right. I never got used to it being in 3D, meaning that even after 3 hours into the movie I was still seeing depth. From start to end I saw depth the entire way through. I honestly cannot imagine seeing this movie in 2D. It would not be as good, no joke. This is the best movie I have ever seen in 3D and I am still shocked about how good it is.
Now let’s talk about the mechanics of the humans and the creatures/plants or the blue guys. I am actually amazed at how well all of the technology on the humans side was thought out. From the displays, to the maps, to the mechs, to the ships, to everything, it felt like a fully functioning world. I am still amazed by it. The same thing goes for the blue guys. Their entire world was beyond thought trough, eve plant, every spore, ever creature, every everything. It felt REAL. No joke. That could easily be a real planet. I am still amazed as to the depth of it.
Now the cast caught me off guard. For such a rag-tag crew (with a few exceptions) they did phenomenally well. Starting off with the main character, Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington. Sam has recently been in Terminator 4. I hated that movie, but he did an alright job there, but in this movie he finally proved that he has what it takes to be an utter badass in cinema. I truly look forward to his next movie. Next up we have the beautiful Zoe Saldana. Her most recent movie was Star Trek She did phenomenal there as did she here, even though it was just a voice over here, it was still really well done. She has a great start to an amazing career, and I hope that she keeps it up. Now we have James Camerons favorite actor, Sigourney Weaver, she has been in so many of James Camerons movies I would not be shocked to hear that they are sleeping together. Seriously, she has been in a bunch of his movies. Its always weird when a director favors an actor, but Weaver can pull this off and did so with amazement.
All in all I would go see this movie in the drop of a hat. So I recommend that everyone GO SEE THIS MOVIE! it has become my favorite movie of all time, pushing Fight Club down to the #2 spot, and it had a long reign up at the top.
Base Score = 10
+2 for James Cameron
+3 for astonishing 3D
+2 for how well the world was thought out, from the humans to the blue guys
+1 for great acting all around
+1 for becoming my favorite movie of all time.

[...] The other thing that really stood out to me was the massive and insanely detailed graphics. They were beyond impressive and they will stand the test of time. They are so detailed that it actually looks real. And I know that a lot of people never really paid much attention to the HUD(heads up display) but my god that thing gives out so much info on it, it’s insane. The only other movie that passes this one in a sense of graphics is Avatar. [...]
